Dr. Miracle Anokwute, Goodman Scholar, obtained his medical degree and completed his neurosurgery residency at Indiana University School of Medicine. He went on to a neurosurgery fellowship at Macquarie Neurosurgery and Spine in Sydney, Australia, and joins the Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine team as a neurosurgeon specializing in complex spinal disorders. His expertise and clinical interests include: image-guided spinal navigation, robotic spine surgery, complex spine surgery, spinal tumors and minimally invasive spine surgery. He utilizes the latest techniques and technology in spinal surgery to provide individualized patient care that is directly tailored to the patient with an emphasis on treating the whole patient. Dr. Anokwute shares, “I initially wanted to be a chef, but thoroughly enjoyed the sciences, so I majored in biology. I wanted to combine my interest in the sciences with finding a way to advocate, help, and care for those in need and that led me to medicine. I decided to pursue neurosurgery as I found the way the brain and spine interacted with the rest of the human body to be fascinating, with even small changes leading to major dysfunction and decreasing the quality of life for patients.”
“I am most excited to bring my minimally invasive skill set to the practice and also to enhance the culture of providing excellent patient care while advancing the field of neurosurgery in the practice.” When asked why he chose to practice at Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine he stated, “I chose a career as a neurosurgeon with Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine because of their philosophy of providing excellent patient care but also the opportunity to work with and collaborate with a group of surgeons who are experts in their field.”
He hopes to continue to utilize the latest technologies to improve the quality of life for future patients. Dr. Anokwute plans to facilitate research efforts of neurosurgical diseases of the brain and spine, develop new surgical techniques, and create and bolster neurosurgery residencies to continue teaching future neurosurgeons.
