Degenerative Disease

Degenerative disease is the result of the continual aging process all cells in the body go through. Over time, cells deteriorate, although the extent is not predictable or at a set pace.

Spondylolysis

A stress fracture or crack in a vertebrae.

Spondylolisthesis

Spondylolisthesis occurs in the lower back and is the forward slipping of a vertebrae over onto the vertebrae below it.

Spine Fractures

A break in the vertebrae (one of the 33 bones of the spine).

Spinal Stenosis

The narrowing of the spinal canal or exit place of the spinal nerves, potentially compressing the nerves of the spine.

Spinal Infection

Spinal infections can cause destruction of the spine, resulting in instability and neurological damage.

Spinal Deformity

Abnormal spine curvature does not follow the normal spine curves and results in a loss of the body’s alignment and center of gravity.

Sciatica

The pinching of the sciatic nerve that runs from the lower back, through the hips and buttock, and down the leg.

Sacroiliac (SI) Joint Pain

This pain is the result of damage or injury to the SI joint, the structure connecting the spine to the hips.

Radiculopathy (Arm, Neck, Back, Leg)

The compression or pinching of a spinal column nerve root.

Osteoporotic Compression Fracture

Breaks in the bone resulting from poor bone mineral density/quality.

Myelopathy

A nerve injury that compresses the spinal cord nerves.

Loss of Lordosis

The flattening of the normal spinal lordosis in either the lumbar or cervical spine.

Kyphosis/Scoliosis

Abnormal spine curvatures resulting in a forward round curve (kyphosis) or a sideways curve (scolisis).

Herniated Disc

This typically occurs when a degenerative disc breaks down, causing the disc to herniate, or protrude.

Facet Joint Synovial Cyst

Benign growths/cysts that are fluid-filled sacs in the joint of the spine, called the facet joint.

Facet Joint Arthritis

The wearing down and inflammation of the joints between the bones of the spine, called facet joints.

Discitis

Inflammation of the discs or ‘shock absorbers’ located between the bones of the spine.

Degenerative Disc Disease

The result of the spinal discs wearing down, causing pain around the area of the worn down disc.

Cervical Arthritis (Rheumatoid Arthritis)

A chronic autoimmune disease, rheumatoid arthritis attacks healthy tissues like the joints, which can start to lose mobility and become deformed.

Cauda Equina Syndrome

In cauda equina syndrome, the bundle of nerves at the end of the spinal cord becomes compressed, requiring urgent treatment to prevent permanent damage.

Ankylosing Spondylitis

An inflammatory arthritis that causes fusion and stiffness in the smaller bones of the spine called vertebra, resulting in spinal pain.
