Derek G. Cantrell
Mr. Cantrell is the Chief Executive Officer for Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine. He also serves as the executive director for The Neurosurgery Foundation at Goodman Campbell, a 501c3 charity focused on neurosurgery research and education. Mr. Cantrell serves as the chair of the Brain Bolt 5K, an annual race/walk that supports traumatic brain injury education, research, and support groups.
Mr. Cantrell joined Goodman Campbell In August 1999. Prior to that, he was controller at Methodist Sports Medicine Center for five years. His previous work experience was in various manufacturing environments. Mr. Cantrell has been involved in NERVES since 2004, a professional society comprised of neurosurgery practice administrators, serving in many roles including president of the organization. NERVES publishes an annual survey of socio-economic benchmarking data for which he currently serves as the chair of the Survey and Research Committee. He is a member of the AANS/CNS Neurosurgery Quality Council. Since 2016, Mr. Cantrell has served on the Medtronic Healthcare Value Advisory Board.
An Illinois native, Mr. Cantrell has a degree in accounting from Indiana State University. He is married with two adult children. In his spare time he enjoys reading, collecting vinyl LP’s, cooking, and traveling with his spouse.
